Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt
A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.
Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
This represents his maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.
He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the final five points to go ahead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, took control to create a decider.
He saved 4 early-game break points in a close final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
